From historic buildings, monuments and deep blue seas, there are plenty of places to visit around the world. We have narrowed down a list of 10 places to visit that should be on your bucket list if you want to explore the world

1. Paris, France

Dubbed as the “City of Lights” (la Ville Lumière)  and known for the magical Eifel tower, Paris is one of the most famous cities in the world. With over 45 million visitors annually, it is home to the worlds most popular fashion and cosmetic brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior L’Oréal, Clarins and much more.

Paris is also known for its architecture and historic museums that will give you a mesmerizing cultural experience. It definitely needs to be on your bucket list if you want to explore the world.

2. Bali, Indonesia

Tropical Islands, deed blue seas, golden beaches, Bali is the ideal holiday destination for relaxation.  Also known as the” Island of the Gods”, it boasts of a variety of villas, hotels, and resorts.There are many attractions to enjoy such as temples, caves, waterfalls, and museums.

One of the most popular tourist destinations, this exquisite Greek Island came into existence as a result of intensive volcanic eruptions that took place thousands of years ago. Santorini boasts of spectacular white buildings, towering cliffs, deep blue beaches, cafes, great restaurants and of course, some of the best wineries in the world.

The ancient architecture and picture-perfect scenery draws over 45 million tourists annually. It is also a popular romantic gateway as many couples have chosen this Island as a wedding or destination.

Famous for the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, and one of the world’s largest shopping centres, the Dubai Mall, the opulence of this city will leave you in awe.

5. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

When you think of Rio de Janeiro, you might think of the much-photographed Christ the Redeemer statue that overlooks this marvelous city. It is also the city with the most visitors the Southern Hemisphere.

Rio de Janeiro is home to  world-famous pre-Lenten Carnival which is held annually in February or March. This exotic carnival includes parades, music, singing, masquerades balls and people partying to rhythmic samba music.

The city also has stunning tropical forests and beautiful beaches and locals and tourists alike can often be seen walking down the streets or in busses exploring the deep culture and heritage.

6. The Great Wall of China, China

Listed as one of the 7 wonders of the world, and perhaps one of the most fascinating man-made buildings in the world, the Great wall should be on every travelers bucket list.

The wall was originally built around 500 years ago to protect China from invasions of Europe and is a staggering 21,196.18 kms long

If you want a once in a lifetime experience while getting a bit of some exercise, make sure to visit this magnificent world wonder.

7. Taj Mahal, India

This famous monument has quite a romantic history. It was built between 1631 and 1653 by emperor Shah Jahan in remembrance of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, a Persian princess who died after childbirth. It is made completely out of white marble and is recognized by the UNESCO as a world heritage site.

This monument is also considered to be one of the seven wonders of the world. It has an elegant combination of Persian, Islamic, and Indian architecture.

People can visit during the daytime and watch as the white marble appears to take on different hues throughout the day. Once a month, visitors have the opportunity to make a short visit during a full moon to see how the Taj Mahal  “glows” from the inside out in the moonlight.

8. Victoria Falls, Zambia/ Zimbabwe

The Local people refer to the falls as “Mosi-oa-Tunya”, the smoke that thunders.  The Victoria falls are located in southern Africa on the Zambezi River at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Adrenaline junkies will enjoy thrilling activities such as white-water rafting, river boarding, jet boating, bungee jumping, abseiling, zip-lining, micro lighting above the falls.

Other activities to enjoy at the falls include helicopter flights overlooking the falls, safari drives, animal experiences and canoeing.  The best time to visit the falls is February and May, directly after the region’s summer rains.

9. Bora Bora, French Polynesia

From sandy blue beaches to luxury over-the-ocean bungalows, this tropical paradise is perfect for a romantic getaway.

There are many activities to explore such as helicopter tours, kite surfing,  Hiking, Snorkelling, , jet skiing,  parasailing, and scuba diving.

Bora Bora is however pricey. Resorts stays can cost anywhere from $400 to $1,500 per night potentially putting a week-long trip at $10,000 or more per person.

10. Rome, Italy

Discovered in 753 BC, the famous quote “Rome wasn’t built in one day” truly has a meaning to it. Italy’s capital and largest city, Rome is one of most the most picturesque cities in the world.

The Eternal City, with its historic churches, palaces, and fountains has inspired many poets and writers and popes. The most popular tourist site is the Colosseum and is one of the 7 wonders of the world. It is a must-see for every tourist visiting Rome.
